Having it all: Hartzog attorneys find OKC's legal environment allows time for family and law
The Journal Record – February 20, 2007

Attorneys Laura McConnell-Corbyn, Susan Shields and Amy Sine, all partners of Hartzog Conger Cason & Neville, were interviewed by David Page of the Journal Record regarding being wives, mothers and attorneys and the art of balancing it all.

Shields, Sine and McConnell-Corbyn were among 11 of the firm’s attorneys and 25 women lawyers statewide listed as Oklahoma Super Lawyers magazine’s “Oklahoma Super Lawyers 2006” list. All three women chose to practice law in Oklahoma City.

“We are all here in Oklahoma City because we choose to be here,” McConnell-Corbyn said. “We all had the opportunity to be other places.” McConnell-Corbyn practices litigation, family law and employment law. She holds a degree in biology from Oklahoma Baptist University and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. She has been with the firm since 1987.

Shields has been with the firm since 1991. She focuses her practice on wealth-transfer planning, taxes, and trusts and estates. She is a Stanford University graduate and received her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. “We work a lot with families,” Shields said. “It is challenging and rewarding.”

Sine joined the firm in 1996. She also focuses on wealth-transfer planning, taxes, and trusts and estates. She is an OU graduate, who received a degree in law from Vanderbilt University. “I love my career, but my family is my priority,” said Sine. “Working in a family-friendly environment contributed to their successful careers,” she said.

Hartzog Conger Cason & Neville has a family-friendly environment that has become part of the firm’s culture and is one of the main reasons that the three female partners with the firm are practicing law in Oklahoma City.
